I have found out that a few birds supposadly have no dandruff. Well I found a few birds that I like and I would like to know how allergy frendly they are. These birds are The Greater Vasa Parrot, Yellow-naped Amazon parrots, and Hahn’s / Noble Macaws. Any info on these birds as far as allergys go?

  1. Wait until you are out on your own, and get whatever you want.  All birds produce dander, especially when they are molting.   If your father has severe allergies, don't bring anything into his home that may harm him.

Personally, I'd rather have a healthy father, than a pet.

I'm sorry darl, all birds including the ones you listed, have dander.

Oh and are you aware of how high maintenance birds are? Especially the parrots you named. Large cages, fresh fruit and vege everyday, pellets, quality seed diet, there are a million things I can list, and without the proper training your bird could become more of a chore than a joy.

Try reading up on that link, I'm not sure if it helps with allergies but its worth a shot. You might just have to get a parrot when you move out.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

  3. Sorry but there are no birds who do not put off DANDER. If someone is alergic to them they should NEVER own birds, it could cause lung disease very easily in people who can not take being around birds. Same goes with CATS and some dogs as well. Sorry.
