Birds making BANGING sounds on the roof?

recently, i keep hearing loud banging sounds on the roof. it's really annoying because it sounds almost exactly like someone knocking on the door, only that the noise is coming from the roof. is there a way to stop birds from doing whatever they're doing on my roof? also, is it even possible for normal birds to make such loud sounds?

ummm idk but sometimes at theme parks to prevent birds from sitting and pooping on poles and speakers they put weird sharp metal things on top of them to keep from animals sitting or lieing on them

get one of those plastic owls that they put on top of department stores, and on the end of docks to keep ducks off. it will trick the birds and keep them off.

well i wouldnt listen to the guy above me to put metal rods. you dont want to hurt the poor things! they are probably building a nest and will be done soon. just be patient

Very possible.  They are called woodpeckers.  Just go out and wait for one to land then squirt it with the water hose.  Do this a few times and it will stop.

I'm thinking its probably a couple Wood Peckers. Try hitting the wall with like a broom where ever you hear the noise.

Its definatly a wood p****r. We had one that would come every morning and peck on the roof for a few minutes, then go away. He did this for a few days and left.

Yours may be pecking bugs and stuff off the roof when he does that. Just leave him alone unless he is doing real damage to your roof. He'll go away eventually.

You coud try putting out a bird feeder so he would go to that instead if you really want it to stop that bad.
