if we find a baby bird somewhere, should we try to hep it?

what if its a grown bird that can't fly? i tried finding the problem but everything looked fine. i found a grown pidgen today and at first it was walking around like a normal bird. i put on rubber gloves and put it by the trees. half an hour later, i checked on it. it was laying on it's side and neck was pulled back unaturally. i tried to stand it up but it wouldn't. then it went crazy and stayed laying down.

ive helped every bird i saw hurt or if it fell from the nest, baby or not. was his neck in its back feathers? it was probably sleeping, birds sleep with their heads tucked in their back, its probably scared if its gone crazy, i would take the bird to the vet or a wildlife center asap, hope the pigeon is ok
