Birmingham City complete signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Bentley-c10435 on loan
Midlands club Birmingham City have snapped up midfielder David Bentley on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the current season.
Bentley, who joined Tottenham from Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 for a 15 million pound fee, has not lived up to the transfer price. The midfielder completed a medical with the Birmingham City squad and he would be available for selection in
their coming Premier League fixture.
The 26-year-old underwent a medical at St. Andrew's earlier this week and has now completed a deal to join Alex McLeish's side.
"It will be good to sign him because he has got a bit of quality and class as a footballer. His delivery at set-pieces is excellent as well. He is a natural footballer," stated the Birmingham boss.
Bentley has played 7 times for the Three Lions in his career, his last one coming against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 in the midfield,
but he has not lived up to that since his move to Tottenham. Maybe the player is finding it hard to adapt or is overshadowed by the likes of Rafael Van Der Vaart and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857. A loan move may be the perfect move for the midfielder to find himself and get
back to the form that led to Spurs paying that much for his services.
Recently, Birmingham were in dire need of a player of Bentley’s calibre, as he would provide the strikers with inch perfect passes and through balls. Bentley’s passing range is compared to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394 and was considered
the midfield sensation of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152
Capello for the English line-up. In his 231 appearances in the Premier League, the player has managed 29 goals and 40 assists, which is a decent record for a player of his age.
