Birmingham City’s Kevin Phillips believes the game against Spurs will be a ‘do or die’ – EPL News
Birmingham City striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Phillips-c20763, has voiced his opinion on his team’s survival, saying that the Blues would have to put in a special effort at White Hart Lane. Birmingham City will travel away to North side of London to take on Tottenham Hotspur
in their final game of the season.
The striker was talking in the wake of his team’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham at the St Andrew’s stadium. Centre back Brede Hangeland earned Cottagers an early advantage in the 5th minute and also stood firm in defence throughout the half. He then doubled
the lead in the 49th minute which proved decisive at the end of the game.
This loss at home has left Birmingham a candidate for relegation into Championship football, with West Ham United having already gotten relegated following a defeat at the DW to Wigan Athletic. The 37-year-old striker urged his side to put in all their efforts
against Spurs, who themselves would be looking for a win to confirm their berth in UEFA Europa League next season.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International seemed disappointed at his team’s display in front of the home crowd and was apologetic towards the fans who turned out in large numbers. He admitted that the Blues were sloppy all around the park and confirmed that his team
would fight until the very last drop of their blood in order to survive. Phillips reckoned that the game against Spurs will be a ‘do or die’ for his side.
The former West Bromwich Albion player added, “We’re naturally disappointed. There’s nothing we can do about it now, all we can do now is go to White Hart Lane and try to put in a performance. We know what we’ve got to do, it’s as simple as that. We’ve done
it before, we’ve been to many big places before and put in a performance and we need everyone at it next Sunday.”
Birmingham City are currently 17th in the League table with 39 points and will play their last and crucial 90 minutes against the Spurs on Sunday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884.
