Birmingham and Aston Villa meet in Carling Cup quarter-finals
Birmingham City and Aston Villa have been paired against each other in the draw for the Carling Cup quarter-finals.
The West Midlands rivals will go head-to-head at St Andrew's next month in the standout tie of the round.
Known as the "Second City" derby, matches between these two clubs can often be fierce, and with a spot in the Carling Cup semi-finals up for grabs, this encounter promises to be ferocious.
Elsewhere, reigning champions Manchester United travel to Premier League strugglers West Ham, with their sights set of winning a third consecutive Carling Cup. The two sides haven't faced each other in this competition since 1985, when the Red Devils advanced to the fourth round after beating the Hammers 1-0.
Arsenal are hoping to end their five-year spell without a trophy by winning the Carling Cup early next year, but first, they must get past Roberto Martinez's Wigan Athletic. The Latics face a daunting trip to the Emirates Stadium, although they won't be overawed by the occasion after defeating the Gunners back in 2006 to reach the final.
And the only Championship side left in the competition, Roy Keane's Ipswich Town, face high-flying West Brom at Portman Road. The pair haven't met in the League Cup since 1969, and both now know they stand a tremendous chance of reach the semis.
