Birmingham boss Alex McLeish calls on experienced players, Felipe Scolari possibly next Besiktas boss
Alex McLeish wants experienced players to step up
Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish revealed he was calling on the club’s experienced players to help them out of the relegation zone. Birmingham lost 2-1 to Wigan over the weekend to slump to 19th position in the English Premier League table.
McLeish revealed he was impressed with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordon-Mutch-c19117 and Nathan Redmond, the young players who had recently signed new contracts with the club. Even though Mutch and Redmond had been excellent recently, the Birmingham boss was certain it was the experienced
players who change things.
McLeish said while speaking to reporters, “At this stage of the season, you are looking to get the experienced guys into the team. We have young Jordon in there and he's had a great couple of games for us. But I don't want to have to rely on a young kid
to steer us out of trouble. It's too much pressure on him.”
Birmingham have been hit by injury problems which have affected their performance recently and has contributed to their downfall. However, McLeish was certain some players would be available after the upcoming international break after making a recovery.
He continued, “We've got guys who have got the experience and knowledge and it's important that they perform for us. It's about having those players available as well, of course. It doesn't help when they are injured or coming back from injury and trying
to gain full fitness and sharpness.”
Scolari to bring in Bosingwa at Besiktas
Luis Felipe Scolari, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager Claudio Ranieri and Steve McClaren have also been linked with the job but so far Scolari is the
favourite for the hot seat.
It has been revealed that Scolari will most likely bring in Chelsea right back Jose Bosingwa, who has not been doing good at Stamford Bridge recently. He has been linked with an exit in the summer and could possibly end up at Besiktas if Scolari is appointed
as the manager.
Assuming Scolari takes over and brings in Bosingwa, he will be adding to the already Portuguese dominated dressing room at Besiktas, the club boasts stars like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Quaresma-c31018, Simao Sabrosa and Huga Almeida. With the mentioned players, Bosingwa will presumably
fit right in.
It was Scolari who brought in the Portuguese international in 2007 when he arrived at Stamford Bridge. However, his stay was short lived as he was replaced with Guus Hiddink mid-season. Even though Bosingwa remained, he never quite made it as a permanent
part of the first team.
The other side’s interested in the 28-year-old are German outfit Bayern Munich and Roma but the installment of Scolari at the Turkish side will most likely lure the left back to Besiktas.
