    Alex McLeish has told the Birmingham City board to sanction the signing of a top class striker to strengthen his side. Two names have been submitted to the new owner, Carson Yeung, with Roman Pavlyuchenko believed to be one of them.

    McLeish has already secured the signing of Michel and Craig Gardner to strengthen his sides midfield, however, the Birmingham boss has baulked at the fee required for Ryan Babel and has been reluctant to meet the wages that Kenwyne Jones would demand.
