Question:

Birth, Help Please??

Ok so I have to write a leaflet about giving birth for one of my classes, and i was looking on the internet for information. I read that a water birth isn't as painful as a normal birth, and also a water birth prevents tearing, so does that mean that you don't have to be cut down there if you give birth in water?

  1. Not necessarily water births are known to be a brilliant pain reliever, but the do not mean you won't need to be cut, it depends how big the baby's head is and how tight you are 'down there'.

  2. It all depends on the woman, its got to do with the size of down stairs if you know what i mean, and how big the baby is. hope this helps

  3. it is a misconception that most women "need" to have an episiotomy. but the fact that when women are made to lay on their backs while giving birth causes a higher risk of tearing because women's bodies weren't designed to give birth in that position.

if a woman gives birth in a squatting position, on hands and knees, or a number of other natural positions her chance of tearing are minimal.

also warm water is a great pain reliever, just think about at the end of a long day when you are tense and you get in a warm bath, your muscles and tension just melt.
