Since the 7 inactive pills are sugar pills, and you are supposed to get your period during those days, if at first it does not start and you are sexually active, what are the chances of pregnancy since there are no hormones in those pills, and most women do not have their period for all 7 days?

always wondered about that, any idea?

  1. yes. i get mine on my third sugar pill and end on the 1st hormonal pill. You shouldn't have a chance to get pregnant, since you ovulate about 2 weeks prior to the sugar pills. If you don't have your period at all, you may want to check with your dr. I've never had that happen.

  2. You are not only protected by taking the hormones or being on your period. The pill keeps you from ovulating. As long as you take it when you are supposed to, you will not ovulate and your cycle should be regulated. You are therefore protected from pregnancy for the duration of your cycle, active pills or not. In 1% of perfect use, however, the pill can fail. The pill can also fail if you do not take it as directed, or become ill (vomiting, diarrhea). Antibiotics can also reduce efficacy.

  3. By the time you are taking or skipping (I skip mine) the "sugar pills" you are past your fertile/ovulation days.  You should be fine.

Also when I'm not on the pill I do have months where I have a period for all 7 days... the pill makes my periods shorter.  Anything around or under 7days is normal anything over that may cause need to see your doctor.  If you don't  get your period at all you may be pregnant.  Take a pregnancy test.  If it comes back negative and you still don't have a period for another week make a doctors apt. and go from there after you see the doctor.

    Hope this helps.
