Question:

Birth Control Pills & Nausea?

I have been taking the same birth control pills for 5 years. Over the past year or so, they have been making me very nauseous. Every month when I start the new pack of pills, I am nauseous throughout the next day after taking the first pill of the month the evening before. For 4 years I had taken these pills without experiencing these side affects. I'm wondering if perhaps they have changed the fornula - I don't know what could be causing this.

Has this ever happened to you? Did you switch pills? If so, did the nausea continue? I do not want to use any other method but I'd like to find a pill that doesn't make me sick.

  1. It IS odd that you have symptoms when you haven't for 4 years.  It could be possible that they changed the formula but maybe there are some changes you have made or that your body is going through to cause reactions with the birth control - check with your Dr. possibly get your hormones tested - to make sure they are balanced or whatever and possibly you would want to change the birth control.

  2. in my experiance i got the nausea the same way u did.. but if i took them o tie every time i didnt get that way but sometimes i would... i found out my hormones over the years increased so i switched to ortho tri cyclen lo... i was doing regular ortho... and it went away...

the ortho lo.. has a lower dose of hormoes in it for women like us... i only feel a lil nauseated sometimes when i forget and have to take 2

edit: dont  take something to get rid of the nausea.. u shouldnt have to take more stuff so u can take stuff..  and i promise the lo works just as good as the regular kind... if u take yasmin... YAZ i believe is the lower kind..

things like seasonale, depo provera, anything that stops ur peroid isnt good for ur body, it increases more stress and build up more hormones in the body.. with the depo shot it toughens the walls of the uterus and after u sop to take it  u get pains like someone is literally stabbing u .. dont use this as an ulternate option... also if u stopped to get pregnant after the shot, ull be in turmoil because many wmen have lost babies after they got sobig because the walls ar so tough the weight is too much from the baby it cant hang on...

  3. i had a simliar problem. i was taking a generic version of seasonel(or however you spell it) and it was fine for a while, then i got really sick. my doctor gave me a trial/sample of the regular version and no sickness or anything.

so if your taking a generic brand i suggest trying the named brand kind, but if you cant afford it i would try switching to a different generic brands. they sometimes do change the formulas but they are suppost to warn people about it ahead of time so maybe check on that too.

  4. Did you start taking any other new drugs in that time period?  It is entirely possible that they've changed some additive in the pills that is now making you sick.  You might want to get your female bits checked out, though, in case it's a problem there.  I'd imagine that changing brands would fix the problem.  You might try one with lower levels of hormones as long as you're okay with how they work (i.e. impeding implantation, rather than stopping the release of an egg).

  5. Definitely try SEO.  These guys are very good at it!

  6. Go to your doctor and tell them what you are feeling. They will look for a pill that you can take that will take away this side effects. Happened to my sister. Good luck

  7. I dealt with constant nausea for a year before my doctor switched my pill--it seems to be a fairly common side effect. One thing that you may want to try before switching completely is altering the time of day that you take your pill. If you take it immediately before bed, the nausea may occur while you're sleeping and pass by morning.

  8. Ive tried like 3 different types of bc pills and they all make me sick. If they just started making you sick id let your doc know. It could be somthing you're doing or eating. Good luck
