Birth Control To Young?

i'm 15 my periods are getting pretty heavy and painfull. I asked my mom if it's ok to take but she has a concern which is....... if you take birth controll too young will it make you sterile?

  1. No, it won't.  If you take birth control for many years, it might take your body awhile to readjust and reach peak fertility again.  Some women have problems with fertility no matter what, so there's no way to know for sure.

    Encourage your mom to talk directly with the doctor to calm her fears.  What she knows about birth control might be outdated.


  2. I've never heard that.  My mom put me on birth control for my periods when I was 14 and she's an OBGYN.  I doubt she would have done that if it would have those effects.

  3. no it wont actually i am 15 and going on it to to help my acne and long periods i think it would be a good idea to go on it because your heavy periods will most likely stop

  4. Birth control does not make you sterile. However if you take it for a long period of time it might take a couple of months for you to get pregnant if you want to after getting off of them. But even with this you can still get pregnant it just might take a little longer. You should talk to the gynecologist about all of this stuff so you and your mother get all the info that you need.
