Question:

Birth Control rules?

Do they tell you to take it at an exact time so you can have a schedule and remember better? I read somewhere that you can take it anywhere in a 12 hour period, and only after that, you have missed it.

If not, how far apart is it okay to take them every day? Within the hour?

Secondly, can birth control cause depression? How can you start realizing it is the pill and not your own hormones?

  1. anything within the 12 hours is fine- but you should have in mind that the closest is the safest...

if you feel weird ask doctor for a different pill

sometimes you need to try couple different ones to feel like you are not taking anything...

  2. You are supposed to take them about the same time every day. I take mine at 6am every day, so that means on weekends I have to set my alarm, take the pill and then go back to sleep. It's a hassel, but I'd rather be safe than a mother right now.

  3. well they tell you to take it at the same time everyday to be most effective.  if you are on YAZ (or any for that matter) you can go to the YAZ website and set up alerts to send you an email or a text everyday at the same time to remind you to take it.  i found it very helpful when i was on the pill.  but remember it is only 99.99% if taken at exactly the same time every single day....

as for depression, it did for me, big time.  actually, this last time around, i gained like 15 pounds and was a total jerk and was breaking out like crazy.  my doc told me to stay on it for like 3 months, and the only thing that happened was i gained weight, drive my then boyfriend away, and s*x, forget it, i wanted nothing of the sort.  i think thats why its effective, it makes you fat and mean and gets rid of your s*x drive...

    good luck!

  4. you should take it at around the same time to keep the levels of hormones consistent in your body at all times. yes they can cause depression.

  5. You have to take the pill at the same time everyday so if you like taking it in the morning make sure it is at the same time like 10: am or 8 am every day don't mix and match from morning to night. It is to keep the birth control constant and most effective.

While its highly unlikely that birth control could cause depression it is possible. Because the pill has hormones in it which can mess up your system and could in rare occasions cause mild depression anything more severe should be checked over with you physician or a psychiatrist.

    I hope this helps!!!

  6. you dont have to take it at the "exact hour" i use to skip days when i forgot. and im not preggers. when its in your system for a long time just like any perscription it doesnt just wear off just like that. but dont skip more than 1-2 days

  7. You need to take it at the exact same time every day for it to be most effective. Especially if you're taking the mini pill.

  8. There are a lot of different birth control pills and each one has several dosing levels. Most are very mild and not sufficient to cause depression or mental health problems. In fact, they do a great deal to stabilize potential mood swings due to hormones.

You should make the pill a part of your daily routine. Take it when you get up after you brush your teeth. Take it last thing when you get into bed. Most women start or end their day by taking the pill. No one wants to take it when they're out to lunch or dinner. Do it first or last thing each day. That way you won't have to worry about how many  hours between, missing doses, etc.
