im thinking about getting a depo shot but now im hering that it makes you gain alot of weight

an dso does the birth contorl pills but then

which one makes you gain more weight??? and how do you loose it fast

Take pills, the ones where you have a period EVERY MONTH, when you start to mess with you cycle, and preventing it from coming on, thats when you start 2 develop blood clots, the Depo shot is not good @ all, it took it once,and spotted for 2 months

Both will affect everyone differently. It's not a cookie cutter type of thing.

The depo is not good at all. I gained about 50 pounds on it after using it for a year. Before I went on the depo, I had lost 14 pounds.

I'm still struggling to lose the extra weight now that I've stopped it. I had horrible mood swings...I was paranoid and crazy and you name it. Not to mention that I would occasionally spot out of the blue...the spotting period would last anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Let me tell you, having a period for 6 weeks, even if it's just spotting, in a royal pain.

Not to mention that the shot causes a loss in bone density over time. So young people (I was 26 and considered young) are now restricted to 2-3 years of taking it before being forced to switch anyway. 2 different doctors in 2 different countries told me this.

I switched to Yasmin and it worked all right for me. I definitely recommend taking pills over the death shot.

an unwanted pregnancy..............anyway do the depo. eat right and exercise. at least with the depo, you only have 4 periods a year.

I never gained any weight from birthcontrol pills.

There is a pill available called Yasmin (there may be others too but this is the only one I know personally) which has a mild appetite suppressant in it if you are worried. Chat to your dr about it, but that may be the way you want to go if you are really worried about weight gain

I had mood swings TERRIBLE mood swings, and some leg pain. But other than that, it was easy. I lost my period for about 2 years that I was on it. That was nice.

The pill I didnt gain at all. Breast tenderness. No period. If my hubby didnt get cut, then I would go on the pill again.

i never gained any weight with birth control pills, i wouldnt go on any other contraceptive.

mmmmmmmmmmm. every person reacts differently to these medications. I can tell you that the depo shot is not really any different than the pill. WEight gain is higher with depo I believe, but everyone is different. weight gain is most likely to occur with all.

the weight gain usually stays as long as you are on the pill. IT can also cause breast tenderness, increased acne among other things

If you are concerned about side effects but want birth control. there is the IUD made with copper ( this device is placed in your uterus and is the most effective birth control besides tubal ligation but is not permanent) and not hormones or an IUD with little hormone and an internal vaginal ring with little hormones...these without those side effects as much. I am in the US so I don't know if all these products are available but express your concerns to your dr and they will allow you to approach this and make the choice that is right for you.
