However, i know someone, who knows someone else, who is now haveing issues having children since she took hers out. What are some side effects and downfalls. Can anyone tell me about this???

  1. I have the Paragard IUD (copper, no hormones). I haven't had any kids yet, either, but Planned Parenthood put it in for me. I like it. It is a wonderful option for long-term birth control. It is kind of expensive to get, but it pays for itself in about a year. Go to plannedparenthood.com, click on the "Birth Control" tab on the left side of the screen, pick your birth control, and you will have a bunch of good info.

  2. mirena has hormones so it can affect ur ability to conceive afterwards. usually it just makes it take some extra time to conceive. but u will get that with almost any hormone containing birth control. if u r worried about not being able to conceive later i would try the copper iud. it has no hormones and can remain in place for 10 years or whenever u want it out. i have not experienced any side effects with mine. it is very reliable...99.99 percent effective. ur fertility should b fine when u get it taken out and it is very possible to get pregnant the very first time u have s*x after its taken out.

  3. Out of all the birth control methods, i'd reccommend the Depo Provera injection. It's given every 3 month and is not particularly invasive. You re also less likely to forget it like you might the pill.

  4. my best friend has it and loves it!! all other birth control made her sick or messed with her body. She really loves it.

  5. Mirena is given to women who have had at least 1 baby already! So if you havent had a baby DONT GET IT.

Ok this is what happened to me: I had a stupid nurse convince me to get Mirena even though I have NEVER Had any kids. Mirena website says only for use in women who have had a child. Anyway so I had the IUC mirena put it. OMG it hurt like h**l going in and i was in the worst pain EVER for days. I was in so much pain it was unbareable to go to work, school, or even out to dinner. About 2 weeks later I ran to my OBGYN and made her take it out! She was surprised that a nurse had given it to me when i havent had any kids. My OBGYN told me I would have to have like 4 to 6 menstral cycles before it would feel ok.

So only get mirena AFTER you have had 1 baby. What happens I think is that the uterus has been stretched a lot from having a baby so it can handle having something placed in it. Since i have not had a baby my uterus was in tons of pain having something inside of it.

Mirena is the best birth control out there and it lasts for 5 years. But it is not intended for women who have not had a baby so dont get it until you have had a baby. For now use regular birth control pills.

If someone is having problems having a baby it is NOTHING to do with the mirena (and she may have had something else from another country that is not mirena. They may have had an IUD and mirena is an IUC FDA approved in the US back in early 2000s, like 2001 maybe.)

You can check out their website

    www.mirena,com

But DONT get it if you havent had a baby despite what any stupid nurse or doctor tells you. I have to pay 300 dollars for something I had removed only a few weeks later because the pain was unbareable since i hadnt had any kids yet.
