I had my baby emergency c section 2 weeks yesterday. And i was at the docs today and he told me he would give me bc at my 6 week checkup. BUT if I decided to have s*x before then I couldnt start bc till my next period, if I didnt I could start it that day. Why is that??

Also he didnt tell me I couldnt have s*x. He told me if I decided to were his exact words actually. He also told me I was healing very nicely. So why couldnt I have s*x now? Its been 2 weeks and 1 day since my c section. Would it be fine? as long as i used protection of course. Thanks in advance to your answers!!

  1. I wouldn't have s*x for 6 weeks, that inscion may be healing up nicely but the key word is HEALING!! My friend had s*x exactally on her 3 rd week post c-section and her inscion ripped open and she bled heavily. She had to be rushed to the hospital and deal with one being stapled back up , IV's a hospital stay and the embarassement of being horny and having s*x WAY before her six weeks were up.. Plus her insurance didn't pay because I guess of her stupidty!!

  2. its not a good idea to have s*x...your c section is still healing and your not supposed to have intercourse for at least 6-8 weeks afterward. also it is possible to get pregnant now. i know several women who have kids not even a year apart because they were told they couldnt get pregnant right after having a baby. as for the birthcontrol its because during the first 6 weeks your bleeding and have discharge during that time, like a period. get another doctor honey if he isnt telling you these things and why

  3. You should be fine to have s*x.  Just make sure to not hurt or break open your stitches.

  4. it will be just fine for you to have s*x 2 weeks after as  long as you use some form of protection. I also had a c-section but mine was 5 months ago. the reason he said he would give you bc @ your 6 week check up is cuz most women finish their bleeding after that time.he dont want to start you on bc while you are still bleeding.

  5. A#1-Having intercourse during your six weeks post delivery you run the risk of getting pregnant, even with using other forms of birth control.  Therefore the doctors wait until your next period to start birth control to ensure that you are not pregnant.

A#2-Well you have several layers of stitches on the inside as well as the stitches(staples) on the outside, therefore you are still healing.  You can have s*x, but will be running the risk of pulling stitches and begin bleeding.  It is just a safety precaution to wait the six weeks when you have had a c-section.

  6. The reason for delaying starting the pill is so that you don't take a whole pack of birth control pills and then realize you're pregnant again.

Likely, he didn't tell you not to have s*x because you had a cesarean instead of a vaginal birth, so you don't have any vaginal tearing that could get infected by s*x. However, I still think he should have seriously recommended that you wait the full 6 weeks because your cesarean is definitely not healed all the way yet, and you could still develop an intrauterine infection.
