Birth control and no period?

I have been on and still am on birth control for several years and suddenly for the last three months my period has been very strange. The first month was light and then the second month was very light and only lasted two days. Now this last month my period did not even come. One of the reasons that I was put on birth control was to have a period every month because I have always been irregular. Now I am curios as to why my period would just stop coming? I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. Does anyone have an idea why my period would just suddenly stop?

  1. You need to call your doctor! You may need a different pill now.

  2. I would call your doctor.

    It sounds like it's hormonal.

Depending on your age, your body may be going through Peri-menopause.  The first sign is changes in periods even when you're on the pill (happened to me).

I was on the pill for fourteen years due to irregular periods due to PCOS.  During the last two years I was on it (ages 44 and 45), my periods changed.  My Gyn confirmed it was due to my starting Peri-menopause.

  3. Might be time for a pill change.  Talk to your doctor.
