Question:

Birth control causing extreme anxiety?

I've been on Yasmin for about a year and a half now for PMDD. I switched to the generic brand of OrthoTrycyclinLo because it was cheaper and it made me anxious so I changed back to Yasmin. I had my period and I just started taking Yasmin a few days ago and I'm so anxious that I can't sleep. I'm having severe panic attacks almost to the point of feeling like I can't breathe and throwing up. I've had panic attacks for two days straight now. What should I do? I don't trust my doctor, because of them I have a permanent hearing loss. How can I get rid of this feeling? Should I just stop taking my pill? I feel so terrible. Thanks.

  1. stop taking it and wait till your side effects stop then start taking it again. i had the same problem and they said i had got to much in my system when i changed pills quickly. but anyways if the side effects don't stop go to the hospital or another doctor and they can help you.

  2. stop taking it

  3. well call your doctor i know if i call mine & leave a message they will call me back , even when the office is closed.try square breathin in the meantime to help you relax, to do this breath in till the count of 4 , hold for the count of 4, breath out for 4,hold for 4, repeat, this is so relaxing it can put me to sleep.

  4. Stop taking it. I think you're going to have to consider alternative birth control methods from now on. Hormonal options don't work for everyone.

  5. forget the birth control, if he can't pull out in time or wear a condom why should you suffer.

  6. Are you sure its from your birth control? Kinda the same thing happened to me. I started taking a Ovcon and awhile later I started to have severe panic attacks. The first thing I thought of was the bc, but as it turns out it had nothing to do with it. I was having some major life changes at that time and that was the cause of it. Good luck.
