  1. birth control helps reduce the heavy flow and the length of your periods. i am on them and i only bleed 3 days out of the 7 which helps with the cramps. also don't take ibuprofen during your cycle it may help with the pain but they thin your blood out and make you bleed more. take an aspirin instead or midol, etc.

best bet is to make appointment and talk to a doctor

    hope this helps

    good luck ;)

  2. You don't say how old you are but:

BC pills will help immensely!  I would suggest you take a break every year though.  Plus if you don't have kids, get checked on a regular basis.

I was on them for 10 years straight, and this was back when you had to have a period every month, so I messed around with them (didn't take a break) so I wouldn't have it on vacation, etc.  I did not take a break and when I went off them (made hubby get a vas), I found that I had endometriosis and had to have a hysterectomy at the young age of 29.

So, make sure you have a good OBY and there are so many choices on the market.

I had really bad cramps, just like you described, but my legs would go numb, and I also had colitis which was masked by the terrible pain.

You can also try what the last user stated, ibuprofen, which really helped.  But let me tell you, if you qualify, a hysterectomy was the best thing to happen to me.  I thought cramps were bad, but endomitriosys is wow, 100 times worse; and the pain does not go away.  I was taken to emergency from work which was humiliating.....

    Good luck.
