Question:

Birth control for regular periods? 14?

is birth control a good idea for a 14 year old? im not having s*x, but i figure skate 6 days a week for about 3 hours, not to mention 3 other hours of off-ice training and my mom thought it might be a good suggestion to take birth control so i know when my period is and i can prevent it from suddenly happening on the ice and losing practice, or even starting during competitions!

are there any risks or other benefits to birth control, other than planned periods and not getting pregnant (im not having s*x)?

will i gain weight? which do you think is the best for me?

thanks,

lijefe

  1. I started birth control for the same reason when I was 15.

I come from a genetically small family, so I didn't gain weight...I was very happy being on BC and I'm still on it today at 23.

It will help keep your skin free from acne (help, not get rid of it completely, mind you)

I'm on Yasmin, which is a consistent dose (meaning, all 28 pills have the same amount of hormones, other pills have varying amounts, but still protect the same and do the same things) pill. I had spotting between periods when I was on orthotricyclen and the "lo" version of ortho. Yasmin has been my Pill of choice for a few years now and I really like it.

    Good luck!

  2. there is no health risk from using the pill.

youll be a lot more carefree, and your life will be also more painfree.

go for it. ive been on it before. it is all good.
