Question:

Birth control/ pregnancy question?

am on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo birth control. I started the placebo pills on Sunday and it is now Wednesday and I haven't started my period yet. Should I be worried about this?

I am sexually active with my boyfriend and we do not use condoms. I do sometimes forget to take the Pill and then take two the next day.

Has anyone been in this situation? Do you think it's possible I am pregnant? Or maybe my period is just randomly late?

When do you normally get your period while taking the placebo pills?

  1. I'm confused. You said it was a placebo pill? A placebo pill is a fake pill that is used in mind-over-matter experiments. If that is in fact what you have taken, then yes, you are pregnant.

  2. i got pregnant on ortho tri-cyclen and i never missed a pill...so yes there is a possiblity you could get pregnant. .01% i found out!!

  3. Yes, your doctor should have explained this to you, that if you miss a pill and take it the next day...and you write "sometimes" which means alot more than you should, it drastically cuts down on the pills effectiveness.  It also sounds like you are in your first month of taking the pill, otherwise you'd already know that you should start your period when you start the placebo.  You could very well be pregnant.  The only way to tell for sure is if you get a test.

  4. It can be normal to need a few days to start bleeding after you take the active pills. It can also be normal to occcassionally skip a period.

However, if you have missed several pills, there is also a chance that you are pregnant, so I would test before starting the next pack of pills, if you don't get your period by then.

  5. don't forget to take the pill.

there is a chance your pregnant, but i don't know how high  your chances are.

you probably shouldn't take pills anymore if your forgetting about it.

that's not good, birth control does not work at all if you forget to take it.

i forgot to take pills too, so i switched to the nuva ring. much easier and you only have to switch it every three weeks then take it out for a week then put in a new one.

there's also the Depo shot, but i wouldn't recommend taking it unless you want weird side effects, like spotting and weight gain.

    anyway, good luck

    =)

  6. When I was on the pill, it normally took me about five days on the placebo pills to start my period.
