if you take birth control does it make you fat?

Directly, no.

But birth control works by releasing hormones that makes your body thinks it is pregnant.  If it's already pregnant, then you don't need to ovulate.  If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant.

However, since your body thinks it's pregnant, it will incurage you to eat more to begin gaining some of that pregnancy weight needed to help sustain the baby.

So if you can control how much you eat, birth control won't MAKE you fat.

Yes and No. If you tend to gain, you will. If you don't tend to gain, you won't. Some woman gains a lot where some looses a lot. Depends on your body type and structure. Despite of gaining and loosing weight, birth control pills have other good effects in the body.

In addition to what Julie L said, some people also report losing weight on the pill, however, whatever may happen, if anything, it probably won't be drastic.

Being pregnant makes you fat. If you wanna think of it that way.

No don't be silly i get the three month injection and I'm 19 and way 57kg and my friends about the same as me and she's on the pill so no i don't think so.

I'm on the depo and i heard from a lot of people that it makes you gain weight. i havent gained a single pound and ive been on it for 2 years. everybodys body is different. you wont know until you try.

Generally no. Sometimes people will lose or gain about 5 pounds. I lost.

Slight weight gain can be a side effect of some pills.  You just have to do some research and find the right on for you.

yes some bc does make u gain weight if you are prone to weight gain.  alot of the more petite women will actually lose weight.  my daughter weighed 99lbs but after staring depo she dropped to 88 lbs.  so if you look at the older women in your family and they are over weight i would be concerned if weight gain is an issue for you....good luck

Some say that the pill causes them to retain water.  That's different than fat.  If that happens for you, then just use condoms.

One thing birth control does do is help you avoid getting pregnant before you're ready!
