ok.. well i'm 16. and my mom made a rule for me and all my sisters that when we turn 16, we are allowed on the pill. both my sisters are older, and they both got on the pill at 16.

my mother told me they stick stuff up you.. and open it up inside you and do a vaginal swab.

(apparently this must be done before you go on the pill)

i'm really worried about the whole thing. she said it is uncomfortable.. and i'm worrying it's going to HURT.. bad.

and will this whole process possibly stretch you out?

if anyone has had this procedure done, or knows anything about it, any comments would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

  1. When I got put on the pill, they didn't do anything down there.  However, I have to go back in about a month and they will do it then.

I've heard it feels uncomfortable, but its not painful and no, it won't stretch you.  The procedure is for your benefit though, so I would recommend getting it done then if you have the choice.

  2. wow. ure mom realyl wants none of u to be getting pregnant any time soon huh?

a pap smear is what that procedure is called..it is a very short and painless visit, if u are a virgin, it might feet uncomfortable the first time. all u really have to do is relax, and breathe throughout the whole thing, the doctor will explain to u what he/she is doing..and no , it wont stretch you out..don't be silly :)

    good luck. (becoming a women)

  3. This procedure is called a Pap Smear. It is used to look for abnormal tissue in your cervix.

Regardless of whether you go on the pill or not, you are supposed to have a pap smear every year as soon as you are sexually active. Basically, they take a speculum and insert it into your vaginal canal to open it up, take what looks like a really long q-tip, and take a little swipe. This collects cells from your cervix, which they can then analyze in a lab.

It doesn't really hurt, it is just uncomfortable. You will feel pressure up there. It is the same kind of uncomfortable pressure as taking a p**p.

Don' be scared! They have different sizes of speculums (the things they are going to stick up you), so don't worry about getting "stretched out." Also, the v****a is extremely elastic.
