  1. My son was born with a cleft lip and palate.. i knew ahead of time that he would have this affliction but i still held some foolish hope.. i cried a little when he came out and i saw how bad it was.. but then i gathered my strength and decided then and there that it didn't matter.. we'ed get through it and i loved him to fiercely...

mine is only cosmedic.. easily repaired with time and effort.. yours.. well, you baby and you will be in my thoughts.. take care

  2. well my eldest daughter took 32 hours to finally get born, then when she was 1 she was diagnosed with congenital spastic paraplegia, but we knew she had this condtion before we were told has my hubby has it too. when my 2nd daughter was born she took 24 hours to come into the world and she too has the same condtion. now my youngest 2 took a couple of hours and they are both fine.

it was wrong for you to be told on your own about your son.

  3. i nearly died when i was born

i come out with the ambilical cord round my neck

  4. in the 2 weeks leading up to birth i was leaking amniotic fluid, i told midwife, who said it was urine due to the pressure on my bladder.

i went into labour after 2 membrane sweeps at 41 weeks. i woke at 2.30 in the morning with really excrutiating tummy pains. phoned the midwife who told me i was in labour, and told me what point to go in. and 8.30 the rest of my waters broke, it wasnt the big gush i expected. got to the birthing centre and my blood pressure, temp, pulse etc were all sky high. so i had to be transferred to a hospital 20miles away so a dr could be present at my birth.

my daughter started showing signs of distress and they coouldnt trace her heartbeat too well so the had to scratch her head to get a blood sample and attach a wire to her to trace her heartbeat.

after labour failing to progress and my daughter showing increasing signs of distress they decided to give me an emergency section.

she was born after 23 hours of labour. and it turned out i had an infection in my waters so me and my daughter had to stay in hospital for 4 days, both of us on antibiotics.

  5. planned c section due to extended breach, while sowing up womb afterwards epidural begins wearing off! start to tell them i am starting to feel things, no one listens to me and thinks I'm just panicking, by time to move me from table to recovery room I'm screaming out with pain to the point that by time in recovery can't scream anymore to painful to fill lungs to scream just crying and wailing in pain. midwife came back into operating room while cleaning baby in recovery because of screams and thought they had it under control (she told me after when she apologised after "for failing me")

enquiry     into what happened said that they thought i was panicking i might fall of table and was panicking about people being around me, denied that i screamed until they read midwifes report handed into head of midwifery and denied i needed extra morphine in recovery until check midwifes report again.

Result  They promised would have my name highlighted for next pregnancy that epidural wears off quick on me.

Never went there again for births and went on to have 2 more children with no probs and home same day from delivery room.

my advice: it's your birth, your body, your baby, and your PAIN! shout, scream, threaten to sue if anything goes wrong but stand up for yourself ladies and don't be a victim of they know best syndrome.

  6. I don't have a birth story (yet) but I wanted to praise you for keeping your baby!  My brother has DS and he is personally my best friend!  He is the most loyal, loving, and fun guy ever and I love him to death!  I made sure to introduce all my boyfriends to my brother and the last one I introduced him to was his favorite!  He kept telling my boyfriend to marry me...and guess what :-)!!!

My brother also helped me to pick a profession.  I work with kids with disabilities and will eventually one day open a home for kids with disabilities.

I really wish you the best of luck with your little boy and I hope everything is going well.  He's a gift from God and he will definitely teach you things that you would have never learned by yourself.  :-)
