Question:

Birthcontrol advice? ?

I was wondering if anyone had used a birthcontrol that worked really well for clearing up acne?

I heard it can do that, and I also get REALLY bad cramps on my period and that it can help ease those up to.

But I also wanted one that didn't make you gain to much weight...?

Any suggestions.

Again though my main concern was it clearing up my face.

Thank you so much!

(Oh and I'm not actually sexually active, so if its less effective in protection but is in the other areas thats fine!)

  1. Go with Yaz! I had really bad cramps and acne. I was put on Implanon (a rod that inserted under your skin in your arm) it made my acne WAY worse and i put on 15lbs. Yaz is the greatest. My peirods are lighter. The cramps dont hurt nearly as bad (that lower back ache is gone and I may only feel it for a few hours vs a few days.) And my skin has cleared up nicely. I use to use proactive and a perscribed acne gel. Now I just have to wash my face only a normal schedule with no super duper fash washes.

  2. Yes, most birth control helps with acne (if it has the estrogen in it), but as for the weight gain, everyone responds differently to meds.

I used to be on OrthoNovum, and it cleared my face AND helped me LOOSE weight... My co-worker, on the other hand, gained weight on OrthoNovum...

The only way to know for sure what the side effects will be on you is to actually try it...

The doctor will prescribe it to your for a few months at first, then guage you "reactions" to it, and switch it if needed...

It's basically a trial and error case for everyone...

Yaz and Yasmin both advertise the acne and cramp control...

Talk to a doctor (or even a planned parenthood) to get started...

    Good Luck!

  3. Birth control is super risky for  cancer and other issues - yes, including weight gain and more.

Try this as a lifestyle to deal with all of the above:

    1. high fiber - try to get 30 gram daily - Metamucil doesn't count

    2. no or very little animal products

    3. whole grains only (lots of them - even pasta)

    4. lots of fruits and veggies (little added, lots of raw

    5. little or no sugar/sugary foods (sweeten occasionally with dates or similar)

    6. little or no chocolate

    7. lots of water.

It works - find more info and recipes at www.sdachip.org.

You could "cleanse" with a vegan raw diet for a week or so to get rid of all or most acne and cramping (though it can cause some cramping for a day or two).

  4. Yaz! Cleared up my acne fairly nicely, got rid of cramps completely, and i haven't gained a bit of weight at all. :)

And protects like you wouldn't believe! (For when you're ready for that anyway, lol)
