Birthday Party Dilemma?

For reasons beyond my control (ie death in the family etc).. we forgot about planning my daughters birthday party - or at least getting the invites out. Short version- her party is this friday- she is having a sleepover- We just did the invitations today- and i figured she could just pass them out at school since we didnt mail them- well she informed me that they arent allowed to pass out invitations unless everyone in class is invited. What should i do???? Hand deliver them to their houses tomorrow after school? Just mail them?

  1. I would hand deliver them, so you know that they get them.  That is a dumb rule at your daughters school BTW.

  2. Hand deliver them , it's already short notice, any later and you may not have anyone show up. Most schools do have this policy. If you can call the kids parents tonight and then drop off invitations I am sure that they will understand. Hey we've all been there!

  3. Take it from a teacher, passing out invites at school is just not cool.  Kids don't understand if the whole class isn't invited even if Jr. explains that mom says she can't afford to invite everyone.  Kids are always hurt.  If all the girls in the class are invited I will let them pass them out.  Call everyone and apologize for the short notice.  It may take some time but at least you would know who's coming or not.

  4. Scan and email em! The beauty of technology! Or you can design some awesome ones online :)

  5. Hand deliver them you may not get many responses though this late in the game. I would possibly maybe delay the birthday party for a week or two and mail them out.

  6. This is the same policy that we have at the school where I teach.  Sometimes I have parents that will bring the invitations to school during breakfast and try to give them out then but most of the time they come as the last bell of the day is ringing and give them to the students or to their parents in the car rider line.  You could always just call the parents and if your daughter still wants to send an invitation then she could email them one.

  7. I would say hand deliver them.  I'm glad the school doesn't allow passing invitations out in class unless the entire class is invited, it is very rude as well as tacky to do anyway.

  8. At this point, I would mail the invitations and then call the parents to extend a verbal invitation.  You can explain that the invitations are on the way, and let them know the reason why they were delayed.  This way, they will know about the party tomorrow, and you can give them all the information when you speak to them.  The written invitation will just be a reminder about dates and times.

  9. Personal phone calls would be necessary and appropriate at this point. Due to the circumstances people will understand.

  10. Could you call the parents and inform them of the party?  Does your daughter have everyone's e-mail addresses (not sure how old your daughter is-maybe they're not old enough for e-mail yet).  If she does, you could send out an evite and get all the responses tallied up online.

Good luck.  I hope this all works out.

  11. Try to give them while dropping her off/ picking her up at school,(or give them before or after class) and call the rest when you get home.

  12. You could call the parents to invite their kids.  Or go to evite.com if you know their e-mail addresses.

  13. Relax! Does it really HAVE to be this Friday? If no one has been invited yet, why not have it the following week?

It's much kinder to your guests to give them enough notice. You'll have a better party too because chances are by now many have plans and won't turn up, or won't have time to buy a gift.

Take your time and you'll have more fun!

  14. hand deliver them. if the party means that much to her and you to make sure you have a good party.

  15. Deliver the invitations after school is let out, or you could deliver them by hand, but who wants to do that... ;)
