Question:

Birthday Party Ideas for Older Women?

I over heard my mother in law mention awhile back that she had always wanted to have a birthday party, so I thought it would be fun to throw her one. The problem is I desperately need ideas! I don’t want this to be just a traditional birthday party with balloons and a cake, but something special. She is a very elegant but eccentric person, she is young at heart and full of life, she loves running around in her sports car convertible, she volunteers a lot of her time for a lot of charities (so she knows a lot of people also), she does a lot of important dinner parties at her house for important people, or visiting foreign executives, she is an artist and loves art and history (especially Egyptian and Roman), she loves anything French. I really want a theme and such that is fun, elegant, classy and memorable and that she will just love! Please attach links to websites or pictures or anything to help!

  1. good day,

She sound interesting.... What about High Teas, If its going to be just ladies, fancy teas party thing w/ hats.

Allot museums will let you have party's, check in your area.

In San Antonio we have a wonderful Art Museum that has beautiful grounds and do elegant and memorable parties.

But what you decide to do, I sure She will appreciate the thought...

  2. A young strip dancer guy.

  3. If you go to this website:

    http://partyplannernj.builtfree.org/

And e-mail them the information it says. They will e-mail you back with everything that you need to knowo ansd several great ideas! Great site. Hope I helped.

  4. If she loves anything French then maybe throw her a party with a French Bistro theme.  You could decorate using miniature eiffel towers and serve frech foods.  You could decorate using miniature white lights and candles and such and if you use a catering staff/bartenders then have them wear berets.  You could also incorporate a french flag into the decor.  Maybe hang some famous frech artwork on the walls.

  5. I would do an "Around the World" themed party.  If you are doing a large party with several round tables, decorate each of them with specific world landmarks.

You could have an Eiffel tower table (French themed), pyramid/sphinx table (Egyptian themed), Statue of liberty (American themed), Colosseum (Italian themed), Big Ben (English theme), etc.

You could get small flags of each of the countries and instead of having place cards, give them each a flag, so they can identify what table they are going too.

If you are not having that large of a party, set up your buffet or food area with those themes and have entrees/appetizers from that country with the decorations.   It might also be neat to serve signature drinks of each country too.  A good french Champagne (France), a Beefeater's gin & tonic (English), Turkish coffee (Middle East), Lemoncello (Italian liquer) etc.

Okay I am sorry, I am rambling, but I could go on for days...I think this would be a hit with guests, and classy.  Good luck!!!

  6. how about an elegant birthday dinner? and get her a portrait as a present.

  7. YOU COULD THROW A SURPRISE PARTY WHERE EVERYONE HAS TO COME DRESSED IN AN EGYPTIAN, ROMAN, OR FRENCH COSTUME.  YOU COULD SIT

UP BUFFET TABLES  AND DECORATE THEM IN AN

EGYPTIAN, FRENCH, AND ROMAN THEME AND SERVE

    FOODS REPRESENTING THESE COUNTRIES.  PUT

POSTERS OR PICTURES OF THE COUNTRY BEHIND

THE TABLES.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COSTUME

FOR YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW .  WHATEVER YOU DECIDE

I HOPE SHE HAS A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY.  I THINK

IT'S WONDERFUL YOU WANT TO DO THIS FOR HER.
