Birthday boy Dani Pedrosa leads the free practice 3 session at Aragon – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda starts off his birthday by registering the fastest lap at the Aragon circuit.
The last day’s wet circuit had dry patches in free practice 3 (FP3) session which resulted variations in the grip.
The riders faced difficulties in heating their tyres over the circuit because of the cool weather however the Repsol Honda rider topped the FP3 session by completing his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 0.490 seconds. He achieved a top speed of 329.2 km/h. Jonathan
Rea of Repsol Honda improved his lap time to 9thposition. Rea is replacing the injured Casey Stoner.
The Yamaha Factory Racing’s championship leader Jorge Lorenzo completed his fastest lap with a gap of 0.134 second from Pedrosa whereas Ben Spies, his teammate registered the third fastest lap of the session in 2 minutes and 0.712 seconds.
The Monster Yamaha Tech3 riders Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow attained 4th and 6th position respectively. Cal Crutchlow wants to make it to the podium so that he may re-gain his confidence after his crash at the Italian Grand Prix.
The Ducati riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden attained the 8th and 10thposition, respectively. Rossi faced a gearbox issue in the FP2 and was unable to perform impressively as he lost sometime in replacing it whereas Hayden had topped the FP2 yesterday.
Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda MotoGP attained the 5th position by completing his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 0.823 seconds.
The FP3 witnessed a crash near the end of the session. Crutchlow faced the incident at turn 12. The other rider to face a minor crash was Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing however he managed to attain 7th position in the session.
The FP3 depicts a very close competition in the upcoming event in Spain because the gap among the top six riders is less than 0.5 seconds. It could have resulted due to dry areas on the wet circuit but a close competition is anticipated on Sunday.
