My boys are now teenagers and I'm a bit out of touch with the modern toddler!! The little boy, whose name is Leo, is the son of of friends who live on the other side of the UK so I don't know him very well. His mummy is quite picky about presents and has specified "nothing plastic with batteries!"

I'd like to choose something for up to about £20.00. Any ideas would be great!!

  1. Visit the Early Learning Centre. They have great toys, safe, and age appropriate. You can even get them to gift wrap and post it to your choice of address.

    xx

  2. www.purpleavenue.co.uk

you can buy him a gift box and then have a chance of gtting him an ipod as you get entered in their prize draw to win 1 of 4 ipods

and their gift boxes are selling for 7.50 online and 9.99 in stores - their organic too so he'll healthy treats (they arent high in sugar so eh wont get hyper lol)

    good luck

  3. Toy cars or action figures

  4. Well there is many things little boys like but some things they really like is cars, trucks, and maybe a dvd about kong fu panda!!!!! Hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Trucks, Cars, puzzles, books, leapstar, spiderman/superman/batman toys

    coloring book with crayons

    sidewalk chalk

    bucket, shovel (sand toys)

  6. how about a nice teddy bear that says happy birthday..lol

  7. A ball is always a hit.  You can do so much with one.

I also like this little parachute that we gave my daughter for her birthday in May.  It's one of those that you can hold the edges and run under, or poof it up, or play ring around the roses.  Very fun.

  8. You can't go wrong with Moonsand, they love it. You could get a basic set for £10 and 3 extra tubs in different colour for another £10. it lasts forever.

  9. post man pat or bob the builder cuddle toy

  10. how about some trainer roller blades. or you know that water draw thing? where you put water in the pen and you can draw pics that wont ruin walls or carpets?

Oooh, i got my nephew who is three on the fifteenth july a little football post and mini football from woolworths, it is quite cheap but good quality.

  11. Whenever we buy gifts for our boys, they always end up playing with the ball or the boxes!  ( I have teenage boys, too, but have one tag-along younger boy whom we are enjoying :).

He is also, old enough for some books for Mommy and him to read together or to "read" himself - try some flip-up surprises on the pages :), or some basic building blocks for those little fingers.

    Have fun!

  12. These websites are great for toddler toys:

    www.letterbox.co.uk

    www.GLTC.co.uk

    www.urchin.co.uk

    www.littlefishtoys.co.uk

You can get them to post the gift straight to your friend.

I'd go for something like a wooden fire engine or ambulance.  My daughter (age 4 but a tomboy) has these kind of things and they are timeless.

If the mum is fussy avoid TV toys or character toys like Igglepiggle etc but look for something that will last.

    EDIT:

Found this at £20 so googled it further for a better price - any good? (It's on sale at £14.39)

  14. Get a wooden name train from ebay. My son has one + he loves it. Also, I've bought it as presents to 3 other boys + they loved it too.
