Birthday gift ideas for teenage friend?

I'm trying to think of something to get for my best friend, whose birthday is in a week. She is turning 17. In the past I have bought her jewelry, journals, cute bookmarks and a gift card to Borders (she likes to read and write), but this year I want to get something different. Any ideas?
