We are gonna have a 5th birthday party for our daughter on the saturday of labor day weekend and I just dont know what to do. I know the lakes will be packed...especially since its the last weekend before school starts. She has her birthday then starts school 2 days later. Anyways our house is too small to have a party. We live right down the street from a huge park. It has a pavillion and picnic tables and the kids love that park. Im a little afraid there will be other people celebrating different things and having get togethers there. What do I do if theres no picnic tables open for us? Also on what Im sure will be a very hot day how will I keep them entertained? Im sure they wont want to play at the park the whole time. And what about the adults? Should I have it earlier in the day and serve only cake? Should I do it later and serve dinner? Give me ideas please? I dont know what to do.

  1. maybe go  to    chuckE cheese

  2. I would have at the park that is close to your house.  Have someone go in the morning to set everything up so the tables wont be taken.  I am sure your daughter wouldn't mind getting to play a little longer.  I would have the party around 12 so you shouldn't be to packed and you could serve lunch. For the decorations I would just buy a bag of balloons and some streamers.

For the food you could make sandwiches and macaroni salad and some chips and pretzels.  To drink you could buy sodas and juices or just make some kool-aid and place them in jugs.

To keep the children entertained I would have a few small activities for them to do.  Sense it should be really hot why not have water balloons.  You could do a water balloon toss and pair a child with an adult.  You toss the balloons back and forth until it pops  or  you could bring some squirt guns.  You could also have a potato sack race using the jumbo pillow cases if you have any.   I would also bring a radio and have some music playing for the kids to dance to.

  3. Everyone needs to buy special gifts for special days. All need to have good ideas for gifting the special persons they like most. I was facing difficulty in searching for good gift ideas. But now, I came across a way which really fulfilled my needs. The choice which gift to be purchase, what to be given to our dear and near one is a problem, but one of the best gift which can be given is the idea toy, such as Designer Gifts yourself, how about this one

  4. I have had three park parties for my son. His birthdayis September 8th, so I had one on Laborday weekend before. THere are places here that rent out tables for a reasonable price then even pick up and drop off. I have gotten jumpers but in all honesty, the park was fine without it. YOu will be amazed how entertained kids keep eachother. I actually bar-be-qued before, another time had subway sandwhich and salads and stuff. Adults do fine as well socializing with one another and chasing after their children. The thing about the holiday weekend is that I strongly suggest you arrive early in the morning and have somebody watch the area. A good time to start a party i say is noon or 1. I hope this helps and goodluck.

  5. sometimes you have to book pavilions like that through the city. You should call and ask. If there is no way to book the pavilion then you certainly risk other people already being there which I am sure they will considering its labor day so you may want to find a different option. In order to fit my entire family at my daughters birthday party I booked a party room at a local church. they normally have party rooms at hotels too. You could always bring your own card tables and chairs to the park in case the pavilion is taken when you get there. You could arrange some kind of scavenger hunt, or play duck duck goose, or tag or something. Kids are usually pretty good at entertaining themselves and when adults get together they are good at talking and entertaining themselves as well so I wouldnt get too stressed. Its definitely easier for you to have it earlier in the day because then you run less of a risk of other people being at the park and you dont have to feed everyone. But if you decide to have dinner its then bring hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, 2 liters, paper plates and cups, condiments and ask everyone to bring and easy side dish. My family is huge and this is what we always do. Its hard to feed a lot of people. I hope this helps a little. What did you do for the last 4 parties?

  6. I have never done this but my girls have been invited to skate parties, pizza parties.

I would just serve cake and ice cream.  I always have my parties from 1 pm to 3 p.m. and let them know I am serving cake and ice cream. that way they will eat luch befor they come.

Ideas for themes: I have two girls, 3 yrs appart

                            1girl                                        2 girl

               1st.       farm                                       butterflies

2nd      noah (2) girly                           dress up fun

                3rd       maiden~princess                     princess

                            and knights

                 4         horses                                     horses

                 5         *

                 6         flower shop

                 7         *

8         slumber party, devotionals with girls, fun fun fun

The ideas for each were so fun, The flower shop was the best in my opionion,I delivered bud vase arrangements to each of the girls houses with the invitiation on the enclosure card.   I got each of the girls aprons( with their names, DESIGNER  Helen, etc, vases, flowers in buckets, spray bottles, scissors,  let them make arrangements, in goodie watering cans, there was tape gum but I made it look like floral tape, river rock, edible chocolates that look like rocks, potting soil, crushed oreo cookies,  I put a little saying on each.  It was so much fun, the girls still talk about it.  I think the kids will have fun no matter what.  I live in a 1370 square ft, 2 bedroom 1 bath house.  It has been the place for 7 of the combined parties.  No one ever noticed that it was small, of course, there is not all the running around it is more controlled, you have to be.  But the parties were always fun, and we look forward to more now we have a 3 party goer, our 19 month son. Now what to do for him...lol.

Just make it easy for you and have lots of fun.
