Question:

Birthday theme ideas for 7 year olds?

My daughter's 7th birthday will be coming up and we will be inviting both first grade classes which would consist of about 30 kids. Of course I highly doubt they will all show up.

Anyhow I'm awesome at planning kids parties but I've never had this amount of kids at one time at a birthday party. I'm looking for theme ideas that would work for both boys and girls and a lot of them!!

I was thinking about a carnival theme and having different carnival games set up at stations. I figured it would be easier to deal with that amount of kids that way.

Any ideas for themes and or games that are good for bigger groups of kids?

  1. Different Themes for ages 6-8

    Best Ideas from the Website:

-Backwards (seek and hide, running backwards obstacle course, upside down cupcakes, balloons hung from ribbon

-Carnival (face painting, football through hulahoop, basketball shooting, darts)

-Clown School (balloon invitations, tightrope:duct-tape on floor)

-Miniature (cardboard covers part of doorway, teeny tiny contest: smallest bite or smallest bubble, tea sandwhiches on tea part plates)

The website has many others but these are a few of the ones that will most likely be a lot of fun for large group of kids.

  2. carnival is great.  Set up carnival like games with little prizes for the winners. Food like hamburgers and hot dogs, french friens and cotton candy.  And some sort of ride, like a bounce house/moon walk!

  3. We had a carnival party for my son on his 9th birthday and it was a huge hit. We rented a bounce tent, a cotton candy machine, a couple of large tables, and some chairs from a rental company. We then made stations with different games the kids could play.

We bought some plywood, painted it, and cut holes in it with assigned points that the kids could then throw balls through. We took another piece of plywood, painted it an attached balloons to it and then they threw darts at them (make sure an adult stays at this one at all times ;) and have plenty of balloons before hand...we stored them in huge trash bags). We used our basketball goal for another game. I also bought those heavy milk jugs from Oriental Trading and had them toss a softball at them. I made a Plinko game for another station.

I bought tons of prizes and candy by the bag full at Oriental Trading. I also purchased tickets for the kids to spend at each station. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and filled a cooler with sodas. My son and his friends still talk about that party to this day. Good luck and have fun with it, but budget or it can get seriously out of hand...lol. I'll include a couple of handy websites. You can do a search by age for party ideas on Family Fun's website if you decide you want to do something else. If you have a Party City in your area you can find great stuff there too.

  4. that is a perfect idea!! you should have it inside and out!!!! some games you can have are swimming (if you have a pool!) id say 5-7 or 8 kids in at a time! or all boys then all girls. ummmmm..... if you have a wii you can purchase wii carnival! these ideas might not be all carnivale but how about water balloons!!?? water dodge ball, you buy water balls (you know the mini balls for the pool and stff that are like a sponge) and have 2 teams. put a bucket of water in the middle of the 2 teams and have 2-4 balls. have them stickk them in the water and throw them like dodge ball. pinata, ping the tail on the donkey,.  ask your doughter. it is her birthday party!!! she should have some ideas!!!

    hope i helped!

themes can be as simple as the beach! have them bring there own towel and pretend there at the beach and stuff!!!

  5. i love the idea of a luau.

you can have a luau scavenger hunt and you can hire a hula dancer to show your child and their friends how to dance.. you can have crafts if theres not that many kids and make all types of hawaiian things and have games and hand out lays and stuff for the kids
