Birthmarks and past lives?

I was born with a pefectly circular brownish/reddish mole type birthmark on my left temple. It is flat but you can still feel it when you run your fingers in that area. Its the olny one I was born with. Could it be from a fatal injury in my past life?

  1. No such thing as past lives. The bible clearly states  Man is appointed only once to die.

  2. Edgar Cayce is an American "prophet" who would repeatedly give past life histories of his clients.  A few cases would mention a scar or mark in the present representing something current.  Internet search him and read of his many readings.

But Sigmond Freud said it best, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

  3. birthmarks are kind of a clever way for those who believe in past lives to say you have wounds that have crossed over with you from another life, therefore justifying their claim we have lived before. The problem is that most hypnotherapists have stated there is no such thing as a past life regression . And since there is absolutely no way to explain the theory that you have lived before, it comes down to your own personal belief. Unlike ghost hunting where one can at least try to measure or get even photographic evidence using an inexact science, you cant measure anything to do with a past life. It falls under the heading of your beliefs and what your comfortable with believing.

  4. No such thing as past lives. We all have birthmarks.

  5. I wonder what Gorby's big red splotch was. Maybe a very very bad head injury in a former life.

  6. There are no such things as past lives. Birthmarks are just the discoloring of skin. They can easily be removed.

  7. There is no evidence or data supporting the claim we have had past lives.  Given that, it's impossible to determine if your birth mark is a result of an event that took place in a past life.  Even if it did, the current hypothesis I'm aware of states that our souls are the only thing our current body shares with a past body.  So birth marks, not being of the soul, wouldn't appear as a result of any past life.

There is also no way to disprove this, so if you personally do not require evidence in order to believe in something, then I encourage you to believe in anything you wish.  In that case, it's quite possible your birth mark is as a result of anything you wish it to be.

  8. Sure it could be but it also may not be, Here is the problem when a person goes to a past life regression therapist/hypnotist that person is already aware that they have a birthmark (prior knowledge and thus not a blinded experiment) so when under hypnosis the person may create (imagine) a death scene that includes an explanation for the birthmark. This is also true of people that go and say to the hypnotist that they have a phobia of water (and thus drowning is the past life death).

I attempted some explorations of past life regressions several years ago where the person wrote down their phobias (and positive interest as well). Where the experimenters (without information from the subject except the hypnosis session) would attempt to diagnose the persons phobias and interest.

The best work thus far done on past lives and reincarnation was done by Dr. Ian Stevenson, M.D. at the University of Virginia Medical school (link below)

Other ways to explore this would be with the book "Mirrors of Time" that includes a CD by Brian Weiss, M.D. (link below)

There is also a book called "Uncovering Your Past Lives" by Ted Andrews that explore this without hypnosis.

  9. Why would you think that? Birth marks are natural skin pigmentations that don't require any kind of supernatural explanation.
