Birthparent support?

Hi there : )

I'm looking for a good supportive site for birthparents AFTER they have placed a child. When I look, I find plenty of sites directed towards women considering adoption but not women that have already placed thier child and what about birthfathers?

  1. It is unfortunate that there is no great on-line support for BM's to get some assistance.  I know that I have been looking for a site that I can go to and communicate for adoptees that have found their birth parents.

If you are wanting a place where you can discuss how you are feeling, look in your area and see if there are any groups (for BM's who had given children up for adoption).  You might want to call the municpal buildings, hospitals, churches, etc.  I am sure that there is someone who can help you.

I wish you all the best.  I cannot give you the info that you are requesting because I don't know what city you live in.  I am in Canada and things here will completely change here in September.

  2. I belong to a few.  Soulofadoption.com , adoption.com and birthmombuds.com

Birthmombuds is just for birthmothers, no other part of the traid.  I find it helpful when I am having a really bad day and need to talk to some who know what I have been through.

  3. http://www.bmom.net/

    http://demain66.tripod.com/bmother.html

    http://groups.msn.com/BirthmotherSupport

I've got nothing for birthfathers though :(

  4. I have been a member of the adoption.com forum for quite a while.  There are many great birthmoms who post often on the adoptive parents forum and they have been very helpful in helping us adoptive parents see the birthparents' side of adoption.

Please check out the birthparent forum here:

    http://forums.adoption.com/birthparents/

    I hope that helps!

  5. There's Concerned United Birthparents

    http://www.cubirthparents.org/

    Insight

    http://www.openadoptioninsight.org/

    Lifemothers

    http://lifemothers.com/

  6. Try http://www.soulofadoption.com

Many firstmothers post there, but also adoptees and adoptive parents interested in adoption ethics and reform.
