Bishop Montgomery's boys volleyball team defeats Bosco Tech on Monday
Volleyball is a sport that involves skill and stamina both. Other than that, it is a fairly simple game which does not involve much preparation. All that is needed is a net and a ball and some players that are enthusiastic enough to keep the ball up in the
air for as long as they can. That is one reason why the sport has been able to achieve such popularity in a relatively short period of time. Not only is the game famous in the adults, it is also taken up vigorously by the younger crowd. Both the girls as well
as the boys find themselves entranced while playing the game.
That is one contributing factor that has led many schools to uptake the sport and to inculcate vigorous training programs that are drafted and implemented in order to harness the budding potential and talent of the young athletes. One such team is the Bishop
Montgomery’s boys volleyball team who were able to put on a spectacular show of volleyball on Monday night.
The team that they were able to defeat after a thrilling game was Bosco Tech. The match went on to four long and gruelling sets at the end of which Bishop Montgomery emerged as victors.
By the time that Bishop Montgomery was celebrating the win by bagging a Del Rey League match and their opponents were heading out of the court with heads hung low with disappointment, the scoreboard read as 21-25, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-16.
The start of the first set of the game saw both the teams knock horns with each other. It was not until the middle of the set that Bishop Montgomery got the lead that the match revealed a clear leader.
However, Bosco Tech did not let their rivals get too far away and took the lead for themselves. Once they had the lead, Bosco Tech did not give it up until they reached the end of opening set of the game at 25-21.
The loss of the first set sent a wakeup call to Bishop Montgomery and they were able to step up their game significantly in the second set. Once they had built their momentum, the going was easy and Bosco Tech had a hard time stopping Bishop Montgomery from
winning both the second, third as well as the fourth one at 25-22, 25-14 and 25-16.
After the match had ended, Coach Kevin Norman of Bishop Montgomery made the following comments, “This was big for us to get that win back and also keep our playoff hopes alive. This was pretty much a must-win, and I'm very happy with how we responded.”
