Bishopsfurze likely to make a winning handicap debut - ´´3´´ Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase at Punchestown
Bishopsfurze has a wonderful track record under his belt. The seven-year-old has won seven of his 13 races so far. After doing a great job for last couple of years, Willie Mullins’ dashing runner is all set to run in his first
handicap.
He will be in action in the Grade B ´´3´´ Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase, being held at Punchestown on Tuesday, May 8th. According to the schedule, the 3m1f event will get underway at 19:20 GMT. The €29,250 meeting has
attracted more than a dozen entries.
Among the confirmed participants are: Bishopsfurze, Tullintain, Caduceus, Mister Farmer, Frisco Depot, Corskeagh Royale, Fishoutofwater, Leanne, Beckett Rock, Sumkindasuprstar, Kylebeg Krystle, Magnanimity, Made In Taipan, Miss
Pepperpot and Quietly Fancied.
Bishopsfurze’s performance was below par last time out, but he was pretty impressive in his penultimate outing. Under Ruby Walsh, the Mrs C M Hurley-owned topped the chart in the Powerstown Chase at Clonmel.
Tullintain is also aiming to bounce back after a not-so-impressive show last time out. Woodlands Park 100 Club Leinster National Handicap Chase saw him ending up seventh on the chart.
Robert Tyner’s trainee started this year’s campaign with a decent performance at Gowran Park. In the Grade A Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase, he secured the runner-up place quite comfortably.
Caduceus is also in good shape these days. P. Hughes’ trainee sealed an emphatic win in the ComfyBed Novice Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse last month. Under Paul Townend, he beat Talab by 18 lengths.
Mister Farmer is another to consider. The 11-year-old veteran bagged the winning cheque in the Fairyhouse Committee Handicap Chase. Martin Brassil’s trainee dominated the proceedings all the way through, clinching the first
position by 12 lengths.
It might be a good decision to support Tullintain, who can reproduce the form of his runner-up place at the start of this year. However, it is not going to be a straightforward outing for him, as there are many strong competitors
in the line-up.
Willie Mullins’ ace runner, Bishopsfurze, looks determined to start his handicap journey on a winning note. Caduceus and Mister Farmer are also solid contenders. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
