Bismillah Khan banned and without a contract – Cricket News Update
The much awaited disciplinary hearing on the fate of Bismillah Khan had come out after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Rashid-c41616, a PCB judicial commissioner, turned down the wicketkeeper’s appeal against a yearlong disciplinary ban, in Lahore.
The ban came in the wake of an ugly incident when the player, who hails from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quetta-c835 but represents Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) team, was involved in an on-field fight during a Patron’s Trophy Grade-II match. The fight broke out during the play
at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala between the KESC wicketkeeper batsman and Emmad Ali, captain of Sayid Paper Mill’s team.
Match referee http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaigham-Burki-c98519 had initially proposed a one year ban for both players for violating on-field discipline. “I have been working as a match referee for the last four or five years but I have not seen such a bad and ugly incident on the field. It
was something intolerable,” Burki told.
“I have sent my report to the PCB in the morning today and have proposed one year ban for both,” Burki told a local English daily Newspaper. “I have done my work and now the ball is in the court of PCB,” he said.
Following his ban, Bismillah http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 had appealed against it but during the appeal a controversy took place when KESC player was awarded the central contract by the PCB in the stipend category. The contract announcement was soon followed by media criticism
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380; PCB’s director international cricket, came out with an explanation while defending the banned player’s inclusion. He left the matter to the judicial commissioner’s ruling against his appeal for further action and his subsequent exclusion
from the contract.
"His contract currently is on hold, we will wait for the outcome of his appeal," Alam explained. "The contract will be withdrawn if the commissioner upholds his ban." But later, Alam’s role in the matter itself became controversial causing embarrassment
to the PCB and casting shadows over his own immediate future as a director in the cricketing board.
It is to be noted that Bismillah Khan was among 21 players who were chosen for the stipend category for the 2012 contract in which the short listed players will be given a retainer of Rs, 62,500 per month and includes a list of top performers from domestic
cricket.
