So I want to make the sausage balls but I don't have the Bisquick. I have flour so how much flour should I use and what else should I add to it?

  1. Bisquick is a type of self rising flour you would need to add leveners like baking powder / soda

  2. Homemade Bisquick Mix

    6c all purpose flour

    3 tbl baking powder

    1 tbl Salt

1 1/2 c Solid Shortening (Butter flavor Crisco is great)

I sift very well the flour and baking powder, add the salt and I sift 2 more times....just to make sure the baking powder is distributed evenly.

When all is sifted well and mixed well. Cut in the shortening until fine crumbs. Store in the freezer for extended lengths or times. It keeps fine on the shelf for several months. Just make sure you are using fresh baking powder.

    Also....

    Homemade FAT FREE Baking Mix

    3 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour

    1/2 cup sugar

    1 cup nonfat dry milk

    1/2 cup cornstarch

    1 TAB baking powder

    1 tsp. baking soda

    1 1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together. You will need to tightly cover and store. I would also stir

    before using.

  3. The Master Mix (Homemade 'bisquick' Substitute) Recipe #45055

This recipe is in response to a discussion on the boards about Bisquick. Bisquick is apparently not available in the country where the originator of the thread lives. I prefer to use this in recipes that call for 'Bisquick' rather than purchase it, myself. If stored in the freezer, this will keep for several months. I hope you find this as handy as I do, since I could never keep 'Bisquick' on hand before. If I recall correctly, I think this came from one of my Make a Mix Cookery cookbooks.

  4. Here's a recipe for a Bisquick substitute:

    1 cup flour

    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1 tablespoon Crisco

Mix dry ingredients together, then using a pastry knife cut the Crisco into the mix. Makes 1 cup Bisquick equivalent. Store in the refrigerator.

  5. bisquik has leavening agents and fat.  Try recipe.com and see if any recipes have conversions

  6. If you have a can of baking powder, it should have a recipe on the label for biscuits.  Make up the biscuit recipe -omitting the liquid-  then measure what you need.  (this would be your bisquick)
