Question:

Bit while rescuing a stray.?

Yesterday I found a home through craigslist for a friendly stray that I've been feeding for about a year. I can't have a cat at my apartment, and I'm not there all the time. So I felt bad when I'd return after a week absence, and she would screech at me as if she hadn't eaten the entire time I'd been gone.

So I found her a home on a huge farm with a family who is getting her spayed in a week (I verified the appointment with the shelter).

So the first time we tried to catch her for transport the maintenance people were at my building. They scared her so badly that she scratched and bit my arm really hard in order to get away. I cleaned the wounds with soap and water, hydrogen peroxide, and neosporen. The scratches are fine. But the bite hurts really really bad. It feels like a bruise.

I'm positive that she doesn't have rabies, but I know cats' mouths are really dirty.

My question is: Has anyone ever been bitten hard my a cat? And if so what did you do about it and how long did it hurt?

  1. Thanks for doing something kind of a cat!

Anyways, my cat bites me when annoyed. He's never been outside and is always in for regular check ups. So I doubt the cases are similar. For me, the bite did sting a little, but just some soothing cream and a bandage plus some time got the bite healed.

If you are worried, go to the vet and make sure you are fine. Better safe and sorry, right? ^_^

    Good luck!
