Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012: Eric Pang topples Jarolim Vicen in Men’s Singles second round
Netherlands’ Eric Pang showed a wonderful performance on court as he outplayed his lower ranked challenger Jarolim Vicen of Slovakia in Men’s Singles second round at Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012 at Saarbrucken, Germany, on Wednesday, October 31.
The higher ranked Pang, who has been positioned at number 14 in Men’s Singles draw of Bitburger Open, had to play at his best to show exit to Vicen in a convincing fashion by taking the court time for just 31 minutes.
Dutch shuttler played attacking badminton throughout the clash against his Slovak rival and remained successful in winning the match in straight sets with a reasonable total on score board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Vicen played with tremendous precision in the start of the battle but failed to find a good flow in the ending points and eventually crashed out in the second round of the tournament.
In the starting half, both shuttlers showed their impressive speed and powerful strokes to dominate the pace of rallies but they remained close at the initial stage.
The score also progressed equally as both contestants played positive and aggressive badminton all the way and no one could take a comfortable lead until the end of opening half in the first game.
After the break, they continued playing impressive badminton without showing any mercy to each other and reached at 20-20.
At this stage, Pang showed a great performance while remaining patient on court and managed to win the opening set with a 22-20 score on the board.
Vicen was in all sorts of trouble in the following set as he received a hostile treatment from his higher ranked Dutch rival who was aggressive this time.
The 14th seeded Pang controlled the pace of rallies with his impressive craft and did not face any problem in building a huge gap until the end of first half.
Pang’s tricky and attacking game plan helped him to end up the second game in a dominating manner with a crushing margin of 21-13.
The in-form Pang emerged as the winner in this entertaining contest in straight games with a reasonable 22-20 and 21-13 score on the board.
