Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012: Kwong Beng Chan stuns Joachim Persson in Men’s Singles first round
Malaysia’s Kwong Beng Chan got off an impressive start and outplayed his higher ranked challenger Joachim Persson of Denmark in the Men’s Singles first round at Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012 on Tuesday, October 30, at Saarbrucken, Germany.
The un-seeded Kwong Beng put up spectacular show of dominating badminton as he was incredible fast on court and easily demolished Persson who was the 12th seeded player in the Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament.
Kwong Beng was in amazing form when he showed aggression on court and kept his rival under pressure all the way to finish up the battle in a completely commanding fashion with a wonderful margin in just 33 minutes.
The higher ranked Persson, on the other hand, tried his level best but failed to play positive badminton and remained unable to create any problem for his opponent.
Danish shuttler could not stop the rapid advancement of his lower ranked Malaysian challenger and eventually lost the battle without taking any benefit from his elevated craft on court.
In the opening set of the match, Kwong Beng showed a wonderful performance in the arena from the initial points and took a huge pressure on his Danish opponent.
The hard-to-learn variations in Kwong Beng’s shots helped him to maintain his supremacy over his challenger at the initial stage.
Malaysian player remained aggressive and quick on court and left no room for Persson and took a reasonable lead until the break.
The aggressive Kwong Beng remained comfortable in the arena after the mid-game interval as he played with the same approach. He did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably won it with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, situation remained almost identical as Kwong Beng played in the similar aggressive fashion and took a decent lead in the opening stage.
Kwong Beng was in incredible control and remained successful in establishing a comfortable gap until the end of first half.
In the concluding half, the impressive Malaysian shuttler played continued his lofty run on court and secured the set with a stunning 21-15 margin on the board.
The in-form Malaysian player easily sent his Danish rival packing in straight games with a convincing margin of 21-17 and 21-15.
