Bitburger Open GP Gold: Marc Zwiebler outshines Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif in Men’s Singles semi-final
Marc Zwiebler, the ace shuttler from Germany in Men’s Singles category, worked really hard in semi-final clash and remained successful in beating Malaysia’s Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif at the Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012 on Saturday, November 4, at Saarbrucken,
Germany.
Marc Zwiebler, who is the second seeded shuttler in the main draw, had to dig into his arsenal to produce better form and he managed to oust his lower ranked Malaysian challenger in a close fight that took three games of attacking and top quality badminton.
Backed by the advantage of home support, Zwiebler took the first game easily but failed to make it a straight-set victory losing the following set to his opponent.
However, German player put things on right track in the decider and emerged as the winner in three games while consuming 59 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the sixth seeded Arif also showed his brilliance on court and troubled his higher ranked German opponent by claiming the second set. But he failed to play positively in the final set and lost the fight in a respectable way.
In the opening game, the second seeded Zwiebler showed a wonderful display of his herd-to-learn skills in the arena from the initial points and easily created pressure on his rival.
The impressive variations in Zwiebler’s strokes earned him a huge lead in the opening half and he was in a comfortable position until the one-minute break.
After the break, Zwiebler continued showing up his dominating on court and he remained successful in winding up the first game with a crushing 21-10 margin on the score board.
However, German shuttler could not continue his killing run in the following set when his rival also played to his maximum potential and the score remained close until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Zwiebler geared up his speed but failed to play effectively at net and eventually lost the set with a deficit of 17-21.
In the decider, Zwiebler took over the control by playing attacking and positive badminton. He worked well at net and remained successful in winning the game with a 21-15 score on the board.
German shuttler eventually emerged as victorious in this 59-minute battle with a reasonable difference of 21-10, 17-21 and 21-15.
