Bitburger Open GP Gold: Petya Nedelcheva eases into Women’s Singles second round
Bulgaria’s Petya Nedelcheva showed that she is ready to knock out any shuttler in her way as she easily secured her berth in Women’s Singles second round after beating Ukraine’s Larisa Griga in first round at Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012 in Germany, on Wednesday,
October 31.
The higher ranked Nedelcheva, who is positioned at number three in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with tremendous precision and managed to win the battle with a dominating fashion in just 32 minutes.
Bulgarian lady showed an aggressive approach on court as she took initiative to play attacking badminton and managed to send her Ukrainian rival packing in straight sets with a striking margin on score board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Griga failed to put up strong show as could not push her Bulgarian challenger on back foot when it mattered most in the arena and bowed down to her without snatching any set in this opening round encounter.
In the starting set, Nedelcheva performed extremely well by playing with an amazing speed and grabbed the control of driving seat without facing any tough resistance.
Bulgarian shuttler proved her worth on court by playing positive badminton and eventually remained successful in clinching a strong position at the initial points.
It was in-form Nedelcheva who showed no respect to her spirited rival in the first half and secured a tremendous lead in the arena until the end of opening half.
The battle proceeded in the same aggressive fashion after the mid-game interval as Nedelcheva did not lose her control over the pace of rallies.
The impressive Nedelcheva did not slow down her speed at any stage and easily bagged the set in a dominating fashion with a margin of 21-17.
In the second set, the higher ranked Nedelcheva played with stunning speed and did not spare any room for her Ukrainian rival to fight back into the game.
Until the one-minute interval, Bulgarian shuttler was miles ahead on score board as she played positive and planned badminton.
In the ending half, Nedelcheva was calm and composed on court and easily won the second game with a stunning difference of 21-8.
Nedelcheva emerged as the winner in this starting round clash by taking just 32 minutes with a staggering 21-17 and 21-8 total on score board.
