Question:

Bite Not Aligned Braces

My bite is not aligned and the orthodontist recommends braces. On one side it is aligned, but the other in the back it is not. I was wondering if there were any consequences if I did not get braces. My teeth look perfect now and it does not bother me having my bite unaligned. When my wisdom teeth come in will I have problems?

  1. Our teeth are meant to bite down and to meet when we bite.  This is called occlusion.  What you have is malocclusion.  When teeth do not occlude or bite properly they may loosen and may fall out.  Get a second opinion and if you are near a University teaching hospital that has a School of Dentistry/Orthodontics check it out.  In reference to your wisdom teeth that depends on how they come in which can be seen before they begin to come in easily on X-ray.
