  1. Did he just start or has he always been a biter?

sometimes they are abused and they bite as a defense

you need to win his trust slowly and teach him he is safe with you

  2. Don't give up on him.  Birds take A LOT of patience.  One of our parakeets was a little biter when we first got him and our cockatiel was a terrible biter.

Just take your time with him.  What are you doing that's causing him to bite?  Are you putting your hand in his cage?  He's obviously terrified of you so you need to take a step back and start slower.

If you have the time - do a search for "clicker training birds".  We used this on our cockatiel and in a few weeks he went from biting and lunging at us to willingly stepping on my hands and hanging out on my shoulder for an hour.  I was completely amazed.

    Good luck!

  3. act like his mama. i have a quaker too. please answer my question

  4. Then stop trying to handle it so much. You will find that quakers only love 1 person in the household and will bite anyone else, and even if your quaker loves only you, when strangers are around, they may even bite you in confusion.

Your quaker has already made up it's mind to bite YOU, so it obviously does not like you for some reason in it's own little mind. This will never change so just remember that when you go to handle the bird again. Otherwise you will keep getting bitten. Once a parrot of any breed makes up it's mind WHO IT WANTS TO LOVE in the household, the rest of the people in the house merely learn to accept it and live with it, or the bird will be abused by the people in the house who do not care enough to understand this well known FACT. Or the bird ends up rehomed.

Sorry but this is true. I don't care how nice you are to the bird nothing is going to change the bird's mind.

  5. Quakers are known for biting.  I have a conure, but when she bites me when she is on my hand I move my hand enough for her to lose her balance and then she usually stops biting for a little while and then I just do it again.  It takes a couple of times of doing that until she stops biting.  If she doesn't stop biting after that then I just put her in the cage and give her a little time and then try it again.  Maybe you could just have your quaker walk around on the ground (if it is safe to do that) and have treats in your hand for your bird to take.

If your bird has bonded to another family member then you will need to do something for the bird that the favorite family member doesn't do, like take it outside.  Get a bird harness or flight suit if your birds wings are not clipped and let the bird have a nice time in the breeze with you.
