Why do u ask about religeon? Think genunely ....

Look, why it is being told, so many dirty things deposited in our nail and when it goes our stomack while biting it may creat another problem in your body. Beside all kind of gems available in your hand while working daily rutine. So if you put ur hand in mouth, it will be a problem. Thats all.

Yes, I believe biting nails is makrooh (undesired). And most of the people believe this to be a bad omen. So, don't do it. I had a very bad habit of biting nails during my childhood days. But everything can be controlled. So alhamdulillah, its gone now.

I'll periodically cut it with nail-cutter.

So, when they're no nails, the question of biting doesn't arise. :)
