The former World Cup winner feels that uncertainty surrounding the future of many players is the reason why Paris Saint-Germain are finding it hard to adapt to their new status
Before the turn of 2012, many predicted Paris Saint-Germain to end their Ligue 1 Championelle drought. Champions of the first half of the campaign, it looked likely that PSG will get even stronger with the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti at the helm and the
arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan for the capital club who now chase Montpellier Herault by six points.
A faux-pas by the league leaders against Evian TG has certainly given PSG hope of ending an 18-year wait for the Championelle but nothing can be said for sure considering how inconsistent Carlo Ancelotti’s men have been in recent weeks.
And for Bixente Lizarazu, who played for the likes of Bayern Munich and Bordeaux in a long and illustrious career, the problem lies within the ambitious project of the new Qatari owners who want things to happen quickly.
Lizarazu says that it is hard for Carlo Ancelotti to instil his own philosophy in a squad in which many players are not really sure about their future.
Almost overnight, so many players who had been at the club for a long time, could be made redundant by the club and this is not good for a club.
“Ancelotti is a permanent contrast between the ambitions of the owners and the reality. There is a huge problem with the status at PSG.”
Lizarazu feels that Ancelotti would always struggle to get the best out of players whose future is unclear and cited http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mamadou-Sakho-c23293 as an example.
“Six or seven Parisians do not know if they will still be at PSG next year. How to manage them? It’s hard for Ancelotti to integrate them into a project where they feel they no longer have a place. Sakho is a perfect example of those players who are full
of doubt.”
Given that PSG still need several mercatos to really “purge” the squad, these issues of player insecurity should be addressed quickly if the club is to do well next season where they might also play in the Champions League.
