  1. The black wire on the trailer would be tail lights. White is ground. The two things to check are the bulbs in the trailer lights and the fuses in the towing vehicle. Your F-250 has a fuse inside the cab for the tail lights on the truck. It also has a fuse under the hood for tail lights on the trailer. Both must be good or no trailer tail lights will work.

  2. I'll bet your tow vehicle has yellow turn signals.   There is a light hook-up kit that you need for this.  It has a couple more wires, but connect to the 4 wire trailer plug.

  3. first check the black  ground and check all the connections

  4. black?  should be brown - splits and goes to both sides, right? that's taillights, green = right turn, yellow = left turn.  white = ground

    probably a fuse.

most Ford trucks have separate trailer taillight fuses.

couple bucks, a 12V test light, or a multimeter if you have one, test the truck harness.

  5. Here in Australia trailer wiring is as follows. Yellow-left indicator. Green- right indicator. White-earth. Red-brake light. Brown-tail lights. Black-trailer brakes (where fitted) Blue- Acc power (where fitted)

Trailers suffer from bad earths (especially boat trailers) Clean up the connections.

I suggest making a test light by connecting two wires to a spare globe, use to check for power
