Question

Would it go well with Soba? (buckwheat noodles)

I need a topping for my soba ;___;

Ive got that...I've got fish sauce, I've got soya sauce...

I'm pretty sure the fish sauce doesnt belong with noodles lmao.

I dont know. Anything from a non-asian household that would be good with Buckwheat Noodles?

The classic sauce to go with Soba, a japanese style noodles, is a mild (often diluted) soy.  

The other way to serve Soba is with a meat sauce, and you can use the black bean garlic sauce as a base.  Brown some minced pork in a skillet until fully cooked, add black bean garlic sauce, simmer for a few minutes, and add hot water to dilute if too thick.  Add salt/soy & pepper to taste, and pour over cooked Soba.

I use the Spicy Black Bean Garlic sauce but I like to add some acid to brighten the flavors together.  I usually use lime juice or rice wine vinegar.  I also like how the earthieness of the soba combined with a light garlic alfredo.

um i think u might want to go Italian with this one

and use ragu and your family might think its angel hair noodles

I like to keep it simple... soy sauce and a touch to toasted sesame oil..  maybe a dash of vinegar or use ponzu.

I'm sure that the sauce would go with the noodles, but it might be slightly odd? Only because buckwheat soba noodles have a certain cold, wheaty blandish taste to them. They're good, but whatever broth you put them in or sauce you eat them with will be the majority of the flavor that you taste. So, if you want a lot of the black bean garlic taste with a feeling of cold wheaty noodless... then I guess it's okay?

Personally, I think the best way to eat soba is with soy sauce. You can either use just regular soy sauce, or add some vinegar and water to it. There are also other sauces you can make to go with soba. At home, me and my mom eat buckwheat soba noodles in a variety of ways in either Japanese or Korean dishes.

But for basic soba noodles, you boil the noodles, cool them with cold water after they are done, and then top them off with strips of dry seaweed and (if you like them) sesame seeds. Then you eat them by dipping them in sauce and slurping them up. The sauce can be as I described above for a non-spicy taste, or you can add in wasabi paste.

There's also a Korean dish I love called Mul **** Soo (Literally translated as "water soup") but it's a hot/warm soupy dish. The broth consists of anchovies boiled in a pot of water with garlic. Then the broth is poured over the cooked noodles in a boil, and a sauce made of soy sauce, green onions, hot red peppers, and sesame seeds are added. Just another good way to enjoy buckwheat soba noodles. ^^
