We live in a lovely old cottage in a rural area and at around 8.30pm every evening we have visitors - busy black beetles - they seem to crawl from under the floor and wherever there is a hole big enough for them to squeeze through. They are around 1/2 inch long. Our kitchen is like a motorway at evening times. They have even found a way upstairs. We have plug-in deterrents - they don't work - can any one help, please.

  1. In being a extermintor for 15 years, the best defence and the safest for the home are two products. One is called LiquidSevin, by the Ortho Company., which kills,Beetles Caterpillars, Plant Bugs, Gypsy Moth, Apple Maggots, Tomato Hornworm and other leaf-eating insects. Also can be used on Ornamentals, Trees, Roses, Nut Trees, Vegetables and lawns. Also controls Ticks which transmit Lyme Disease. This product has to me mixed in water into a sprayer. It's about 2oz. per gallon of water.Spray all around the foundation of the house, and spray also about three feet from the foundation on the lawn. This is for outdoor use only. If you want a premix insecticide Ortho makes one for in and out doors. Find it at Home Depot, but Liquid Sevin I think still works best.
